7 17 Credit Union launches card upgrade with new cash-back rewards

What changed
7 17 Credit Union's August 26 card-system upgrade expanded ATM access and set up a September 21 credit-card conversion. The new tap-to-pay credit cards will carry new account numbers, transfer existing ScoreCard points, and offer 3% cash back on groceries, 2% on gas and EV charging, and 1% on other purchases. The credit union says supported existing digital wallets will update automatically, while recurring payments should be monitored after conversion.
Loyalty and rewards implications
The launch couples a rewards redesign with operational migration, making point continuity, card activation, digital-wallet readiness, and merchant-updater performance central to member trust. Cyder can use this as a card-conversion sales trigger: orchestrate action-based offers and service communications, and measure activation, wallet provision, recurring-payment continuity, and incremental spend rather than reward cost alone. Product positioning should emphasize migration-safe incentive controls and clear member messaging.
