Aeroplan adjusts partner-flight reward pricing to reflect underlying costs

Development analysis

What changed, why it matters, and what leaders should watch.

What changed

Aeroplan revised its Flight Reward Chart for select partner airlines, with both increases and decreases in required points for tickets booked or reissued from June 1. Air Canada said the changes align redemption pricing more closely with the underlying cost of partner-airline rewards.

Loyalty and rewards implications

Reward economics need active governance as partner costs change. Credit unions should retain control over reward value, partner funding, and member communications, while maintaining a broad portfolio of cash, deposits, offers, perks, and experiential rewards to manage cost pressure.
