BECU launches new-money Member Advantage money-market promotion
Development analysis
What changed, why it matters, and what leaders should watch.
What changed
BECU's promotion takes effect August 3, 2026 and runs through September 30. New members must open Member Advantage savings, checking and money-market accounts and bring at least $50,000 of funds new to BECU; the promotional rate applies to eligible balances of $50,000 or more. The offer requires the member to maintain the Member Advantage relationship, including monthly qualifying activity through debit-card use, online or telephone banking, or direct deposit.
Loyalty and rewards implications
This is a clear relationship-led deposit acquisition design: BECU combines a high-value new-money offer with recurring activity requirements that can deepen primary-financial-institution behavior. Credit unions can use similar mechanics, but should measure funded-balance retention, direct-deposit adoption and sustained debit activity after the promotional window, rather than only account opens. Cyder can position its platform as the orchestration and measurement layer for coordinated deposit and everyday-banking incentives.
