What changed, why it matters, and what leaders should watch.
What changed
Chase and IHG launched the $350 annual-fee IHG One Rewards Premier Select Card on October 1, adding food-and-beverage rewards, an airline statement credit, a free night, Platinum Elite status and 20 annual Elite Night Credits. They also updated the existing Premier, no-fee IHG One Rewards and business cards with new or expanded earning, credits, free-night caps, status and Elite Night Credit benefits; existing cardholders will receive effective-date details in October and annual-fee changes are scheduled for 2027.
Loyalty and rewards implications
This is a meaningful co-brand portfolio repositioning that uses status acceleration, milestone eligibility, category earn and stacked travel credits to create a clearer ladder from no-fee acquisition to premium engagement. Banks and credit unions can borrow the relationship-tier logic, but must make benefit timing, spend thresholds and value realization simple enough that members see the incremental value rather than just a higher fee.
