What changed
GECU Federal Credit Union announced on August 27 that the NCUA, FDIC, and New Mexico's financial-institutions regulator approved its acquisition of Bank of the Southwest. The organizations are scheduled to combine legally on November 1 and initially operate as independent divisions. GECU says the combined organization would have about $4.9 billion in assets and serve more than 449,000 members.
