What changed, why it matters, and what leaders should watch.
What changed
Velera announced Risk Alert Manager on July 28 after a pilot with select credit unions. The tool combines cardholder-interaction data in one interface and supports near-real-time detection plus actions such as blocking or unblocking accounts, monitoring, card reissuance and account notes. Velera says rollout will be phased during 2026 and the current version supports Mastercard and Visa cards.
Loyalty and rewards implications
Fraud handling is part of the member experience, especially when a card is top of wallet. Cyder should position engagement and reward campaigns as trust-preserving experiences that can coordinate with risk controls, while sales teams should ask prospects how quickly they can protect and reassure a member after a suspected compromise. This is a competitive signal from a large CUSO whose portfolio already includes loyalty and payments services.
